In light of the recent Government announcement to cease funding for Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) from 31 March 2024, and to transfer responsibility for LEP functions to local authorities, Buckinghamshire LEP would like to clarify that LEP funding has been confirmed for 2023/24 – as has Growth Hub and Skills Hub funding – and our current programme of activities will remain in place. We will consider our future arrangements as part of the LEP Board meeting in October.

We had anticipated and therefore have been working closely with our local authority, Buckinghamshire Council, and delivery partners since last autumn to prepare for continuity of delivery and to consider options for an integrated economic development function that meets the needs of the local business community – while also recognising that it is important that the voice of business is recognised in the local decision-making process.

The Buckinghamshire LEP Board remain passionate about economic growth in Buckinghamshire and will work towards ensuring the Government’s promise of more joined up working, efficiency and clarity to the business community are delivered. There remains a great deal to accomplish in helping Buckinghamshire meet its economic potential and we hope to build upon the solid foundation that the LEP has established.
