Buckinghamshire Strategic Economic Plan
In 2014 Buckinghamshire LEP produced its first Strategic Economic Plan (SEP) for the county in support of the application for the first round of the Local Growth Deals.
Since the first strategy was produced much had changed and by early 2016 the Buckinghamshire LEP board agreed that there was a need to reflect on what had been achieved, and renew the focus on our strategic priorities.
This was given further impetus by the Government commitment to LEPs and the policy changes in relation to business rates ensuring that local areas will benefit even more directly from new businesses attracted into an area.
The revised strategic economic plan took into account the changing planning and infrastructure landscape giving greater certainty around population and housing growth, the establishment of the Buckinghamshire Enterprise Zones and the strengthening of the core Buckinghamshire business clusters in supporting the new national industrial strategy.
Our vision is that the Buckinghamshire economy will be a vibrant, balanced and resilient economy, underpinned by innovative, high-value, globally-orientated firms.
We will create the conditions that support our businesses to compete more effectively in the Global Race.
The Strategic Economic Plan will do this by supporting four main strategic priorities:
- Business Growth & Innovation;
- Skills and Talent;
- Connectivity; and
- Town Centre Regeneration
Business consultation on the revised plan was undertaken in the summer of 2016 and the refreshed strategy document was published in November 2016.
