Late last year, Buckinghamshire LEP launched the Buckinghamshire Economic Intelligence Observatory. At the heart of the Observatory is an open-access website containing all the latest data and insight related to the Buckinghamshire economy. The aim being to make local socio-economic data and insight easily accessible to a variety of audiences and for a variety of purposes. We envisage that the evidence published on the Observatory website will be used to inform strategy development, programme design, monitoring and evaluation, funding bids, curriculum development, careers guidance and more.

So, a few months on, how is the Observatory developing and what’s in the pipeline for the future?

Since we launched the website in November 2021, the site has attracted around 800 unique users in total, with an average of 15 users per (working) day. Over the last three months we have doubled the amount of content on the site with plans to grow it further in 2022.

Moving forward, as part of the Observatory function, we plan to co-ordinate networking activities for local socio-economic research professionals and promote collaborative research projects.

In the meantime, if you have any feedback on the Observatory, or ideas for future development, please let us know!
