Bucks LEP will be producing economic profiles on Buckinghamshire wards to help identify challenges and opportunities for growth at a local community level.

Our economic profiles will include the ten Buckinghamshire wards identified where people are experiencing the most hardship, and are areas of focus for Buckinghamshire Council’s flagship programme, Opportunity Bucks, which aims to improve opportunities for people in Buckinghamshire.

Bucks LEP will be undertaking this work to help inform the process of programmes such as Opportunity Bucks, through improving and sharing understanding of the current economic activity in these wards; to highlight areas for further exploration; to foster inter-agency collaboration; and to help attract and target the use of resources in these areas.

The 10 Opportunity Bucks wards are:

  • Aylesbury
    • Aylesbury North
    • Aylesbury North-West
    • Aylesbury South-West
  • Chesham
  • High Wycombe
    • Abbey
    • Booker, Cressex & Castlefield
    • Ryemead & Micklefield
    • Terriers & Amersham Hill
    • Totteridge & Bowerdean
    • West Wycombe

Economic profiles will be based on analysis of the latest Office for National Statistics data, including recently released Census data. Topics for analysis include industrial structure, labour market, deprivation, demography, and educational attainment.

Each ward economic profile will be published on our Buckinghamshire Economic Intelligence Observatory, an invaluable tool which helps all businesses, not-for-profit organisations and individuals in Buckinghamshire to easily find the latest economic data for the county, including latest statistics, reports and analysis.

If you have local-level research you’d like to share with a wider audience via the Observatory website, or would like to join a network of local socio-economic researchers, please contact James Moorhouse, Economic & Labour Market Analyst, james.moorhouse@buckslep.co.uk.
